Qualifiers 2-One Ultra Scary Ride

Ever see one of the most exciting rides of it's time. A rattle trap I think held together buy spit, bailing wire, bubble gum and a big dose of hope, Augie Sorichta's "Qualifiers 2" black 28 Chevrolet? That thing would do enormous wheel stands, go every way but straight, dart here and dart there. That dude put on some show on every pass cuz ya did not know what would happen from pass to pass. Augie was absolutely fearless behind the wheel of that very, very, fast, bucket of old school bolts.

Hmmmmm. Doesn't ring a bell. Scribner Bros. Ran a 1940 Willys at San Fernando a lot; would do big wheelies off the line. Ran Pro Stock some years later. Man I wish I could remember half the cars I saw back then.

Cliff, I am somewhat shocked that you did not see the car at Lions cuz he was there a lot. Him and Kenny Loughton's injected T-Bird were crowd pleasers.

I remember Loughton's T-Bird. Wish I could see a photo of the Qualifiers car. I remember the Vintage GTO, a '40 Pontiac with a big rat motor. There were a number of Bracket 1 cars that ran low 10's. Quite quick back then. Enjoyed seeing them as much as the dragsters.
