PRO Superstar Shootout (14 Viewers)

I was told by a top driver several months ago that it is not happening. Reason was it was too much work for PRO people to put on as they essentially had to do all the planning and preparation.

Did the winners even get the payout amount advertised in the 1st year ?
Rumor has it that they didn't get the full payout promised in the 1st year. Last year's race didn't advertise the payout. It sure was a great event both years though. Since many teams did pre-season testing in Bradenton anyway, it made the race easy to attend and make some money...or not? Nothing has been announced for 2026 so I'm sure PRO isn't sponsoring or organizing it for next year. Dang.

wes buck was front and center the first year. as was the VIP scaffolding behind starting line.
both were great events. small venue feel, and the STK/SS show was icing on the cake.
i would love to see garrett and victor try to organize at least a pro test there. IMO it doesn't have to be a shootout, or even a race.
that facility has proven itself for two years in a row, and why not keep something going there? the place packed em' in.
not to mention all the improvements they made there, and will continue to make, and the location and date/s just prior to gainesville.
2026 is last year the nhra season starts in gainesville? going back to pomona in 2027?

I think PRO got a big dose of reality check when it comes to race promotion and what it takes to pull off...
Many people want to constantly complain about the NHRA, but you gotta respect them at least a little bit. It’s not easy putting on these events, and the NHRA kept this whole thing going through and after COVID. It would’ve been very easy for them to fold and ALOT of people would’ve been jobless.

They did cut back during covid, layoffs etc but you think the suits took a pay cut LOL

Agreed... As opposed to trying to build it as an event, maybe going back to the "cars are running on THEIR schedule; if you want to come watch, give us 10 bucks at the gate. The bathrooms will be working"

I would drive by Tucson Dragway on a weekday afternoon when the weather was nice in January; it never failed that someone was working out how their pit layout was going to be, or taking some time getting crew choreography right for the starting line.
No crowds, no schedule, no hot dogs.

Get back to that.
