I know where a guy (or gal) could buy the destroked big block that Frank Townsend and Kevin Rotty set the record with back in the 70's. I think it was 8.40 something. And that was with a "Real" 4-speed.

Bob Glidden was running a 4 speed when most others had Lencos, and winning. I learned to shift a four speed from the best. Gas Ronda, Tommy Grove and Ed Terry were our local racers and of course Mike Dunn (not Jim Dunn's son). This Mike Dunn later founded BHJ products. He had a '61 Fuel injected Corvette and he could really drive. I got to the point with my 409 Chevy that I could bang the T-10 4 speed without the engine gaining any RPM between shifts. I think Ronnie Sox was also one of the best. He actually LOST elapsed time with a Lenco. Could be because of the parasitic horsepower loss that the Lenco caused. That is why Pro Stockers went to the Liberty. Less horsepower loss than with a Lenco.

My neighbor has a 74 Vega pro built Pro Stocker which he is going to drive on the street. It's still got it's 331 smallblock Chevy and the original but highly modified A-arm suspension, with a spool out back. It was supposedly built out somewhere near Chicago, but no other info available. Maybe pics of the cage and suspension would be recognized by someone on here. I'll get them before we get snowed in.

Found out today it's a Don Ness car
