Pro-Mod Second Round

Well five racers had their times thrown out from round 1 Q "technical violations". Anybody know anything (that they can share)?

Just found the answer to my own question... apparently water injection, submitted for approval before the season, no answers from NHRA, so the racers decided it wasn't a power-adder. NHRA felt differently. But, it didn't seem to affect the cars in round 2, Castellana ran quicker without it.

Because everyone knows that you have to write NHRA a phat check in order to get anything approved.;)

This is such B.S. again the BIG BAD nhra has stomped their foot down and said if you don't like it then leave. These teams gave the info to the nhra prior to the season and they now say not to use it ????

I bet if they had used H-D branded water it would have been just fine. ;)

NHRA doesn't want the turbo cars using water injection because: 1. It's just one more thing for them to have to "police," and 2. Water injection would allow the turbo cars to run a LOT more spark advance, which translates into a significant "boost" in power (no pun intended.)

They (NHRA) just went through a lot of grief, slowing the Pro Mod turbos down; they don't want to have to do it all again, particularly, not so soon...

Buddy Ingersoll's impressive turbocharged Pinto was never allowed a drop of water (injection) by the NHRA. It's just a detonation-prevention gimmick that works.

The more things change, the more they stay the same...

NONE of the cars involved were TURBO........but you take a chance to "belly ache" anyway !!!

My internet crew chief GUESS-water injection is one thing-but its far more common to have water/meth injected. How do you police what percentage of methanol they put in? Or anything else for that matter?

How do they police the percentage of nitro they run?

The DQs were nitrous guys.

Does that mean that none of the turbo cars had water injection?

My objection was not that cars were disqualified, but rather that they still don't allow water injection for these cars, regardless that they apparently petitioned NHRA for its inclusion, and they got NO response.

That's my beef. I don't think it's going to happen, but NHRA should "man up" and at least tell them (and us) why not.

I don't think that's going to happen, either...

That first session on friday just had a lot of hook. Chip King was on two wheels from almost up to Half Track and rode through it smooth.
