The R1 pro qualifying was interesting, some real quick runs. It looks like the regrinding/polishing of the strip was successful.
Just a side question: Is Alan Johnson sand baging with Doug's car? His comment when interviewed was the run was kind of soft, just wanted to get down the track because we are still learning the car and track - come on Alan: soft run. In Wild Horse they ran in the mid 3.70's at only 300mph. That's a real slow speed for mid 3.70's, like shut off runs...
What's Doug going to run when Alan pushes it.
Looks like 2022 is going to be a big battle in all the Pro classes and Pomona is no longer a 1 lane track. Weather prediction for Sunday is cooler weather which usually means record times at Pomona.

I think a lot of people remember when Pomona was a 1 lane track. Left lane was always bad. But hasn't been that way for a long time. Will be interesting to see what times are run today (Sat). Was looking at 60' times yesterday. Some cars had "soft" 60' and still ran a good number, so maybe some teams were just being a bit cautious for Rd 1 Q. BTW, next weekend, Phoenix will have good weather for the weekend, low 70's.

Seems like Grubby, AJ, Hogan/Lagana, Corradi/Oswald, Kloeber, Barlam/Tobler had the same mindset. Flynn and Green said eff all that!

It seems like when there is only one session on Friday, even when it is a night session a lot of tuners are not shooting for the moon however just trying to put a number on the board. Q3 is the same time tonight as it was yesterday so I would imagine the likes of Alan Johnson, Grubby, Lagana etc will throw down tonight. I would imagine we might see some mid 60s in top fuel and mid 80s in funny car.

Pomona left lane was still a problem at the Finals. NHRA had not done anything about it until the track redo this year. I agree many teams were cautious yesterday, especially with the redo of the track. There previous data for Pomona wasn't any good. Today will be very interesting, especially Q3. Looks like a good crowd today.
