PMRA Pro Modifieds return to Canadian tracks in 2008
Pro Modified Racing Association to compete at Cayuga, Grand Bend, and Sanair drag strips next year

CAYUGA, ONTARIO (November 9, 2007) – The Pro Modified Racing Association has confirmed four race dates for 2008 as it enters its fourth year of operation.

“We’ve got four events renewed to date,” announced PMRA Director of Operations Bruce Mehlenbacher today. “We will be returning to Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario for two events, and we have confirmed dates for the Grand Bend Motorplex, and Sanair.”

The Toronto Motorsports Park dates will be May 17 and 18, and June 28. The PMRA will race at Sanair August 16, and at the Grand Bend Motorplex August 30 and 31.

“The PMRA has a solid relationship with these tracks,” Mehlenbacher went on. “We will be returning to some of the finest drag racing facilities in Canada.”

Toronto Motorsports Park and the Grand Bend Motorplex are situated in Southern Ontario, and Sanair is in Quebec.

“We’re planning to return to Lancaster Raceway Park near Buffalo, New York, where we’ve been since our beginning,” added Mehlenbacher. “Over one-third of our teams are based in the United States, and we continue to have lots of interest from new teams.”

The PMRA is committed to scheduling more US race dates in Michigan, New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania. This is significant to the association’s continued success in its series.

“The plan is to get two or three new US dates to round out the upcoming season,” he added. “This will give the international flavor that the fans, teams and sponsors appreciate.”

Both the Toronto Motorsports Park and the Grand Bend Motorsports facilities are home to national IHRA events, and are state-of-the-art tracks. The storied Sanair track just south of Montreal was home to Canada’s only national NHRA event for many years, and has become a popular venue for PMRA teams and local fans alike. All three tracks are quarter-mile strips.

About the Pro Modified Racing Association (PMRA):
The Pro Modified Racing Association, Pro Modified Racing Association, was organized late in 2004, started racing operations in 2005, and is entering its fourth year of operation. The PMRA is a self-governing organization with input from its teams. The series abides to the technical and safety rules as outlined by the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) and the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA). The series has event venues in Ontario, Quebec, and New York State.

Cars in the PMRA capture the true spirit of hot rodding, and the class is one of drag racing’s most exciting and volatile classes, offering a diverse group of race cars with different types of 2,500-horsepower engines.

Combining classic body styles and modern equipment, constructors are permitted, within established rules and parameters, to modify and enhance the cars in both appearance and performance. The cars are fuelled by gasoline or methanol, propelling them down the quarter-mile in low six-second times at over 200 miles per hour. The PMRA provides drag race fans the opportunity to see, hear, and experience the popular Pro Modifieds, known as "the world's fastest door slammers".
