PeeJay, I r sooo confus'd. I missed a deadline once, and I have been paying attention to dates, and trying to get my picks in on time, but the dates are Thursdays now instead of Fridays? Yet last time it didn't close until Friday, right? I guess I haven't been paying attention much to the boards lately as I should... am I missing something, did the actual deadline for picks change or just a PTW typo? Do I need to just go back to sleep or whatever it is I've been doing most of the summer??

Why do you cut it so close.. I had my picks in for this race in last Tuesday... You have to have them in before qualifying starts, so why wait until the last day... don't take a chance.. hey this yr PJ is paying $5k so I always get my next picks in on the Monday or Tuesday after the race....

That's just the way my week works out. Between working more than full time at my day job and working in my studio in the evenings and most weekends, it''s usually Thursday or Friday before life slows down enough for me to make my picks. From purely a fan standpoint, I may not have had the opportunities you an others have had to know who, what, where & when for as long so I have made up for that knowledge in other ways. Since I tend to be a little analytical about some things like stats & prior performance (background in horses) I figured out what works for me when I started playing this game and spent time pouring over who did what (times, et, speed, placing, ladder position, etc.) for what year & race and so forth... While I can't quote the data back to you it helped me learn more... When the distance changed for nitro, I spent time trying to work out the math to try to get my times close to what should be expected.
This year I am studying trends and tracks and trying to work in the analysis of previous performance going back three races as well as engine replacement. It would make you nuts and funnily enough, I don't lead my personal life like that (I cook by pinches and handfuls and bits of this & that...) but I am fairly competitive about this and I like to spend the time working at it. Like my studio, it's a nice distraction from my regular work (but my studio makes money) & my husband comes before everything else, so making my picks isn't first on my list.
What I am trying to say is that I still don't just pick people out of the air because I like them, I study... Thursday or Friday evening is when I have time. I tried the air thing & it doesn't work for me.

At my age and being retired, I lose track of real peoples priorities I have too much time on my hands...However I agree with your way of thinking you analyze).. I just pick who ran well last week, and who's personality I like...
Like picking a horse in the Kentucky Derby because you like its name.. not by how it ran...
