[coverattach=1]CHANDLER, Ariz. (Feb. 22, 2009) - Phoenix resident David Denmon, owner of Dave's Car Care in Glendale, Ariz., was named the third NAPA AUTO PARTS Honorary Crew Member of the 2009 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series today at the NHRA Arizona Nationals at Firebird International Raceway.

Denmon, 54, was honored for his 15-year relationship with NAPA AUTO PARTS and was asked to participate in this program today by Troy Mannan, operations manager at the NAPA AUTO PARTS distribution center in Phoenix. "We have a retail facility with 12 bays, five technicians and we give NAPA first call," said Denmon. "We get a good 95-percent supply from NAPA to repair vehicles. It's been a good association, and in April we start out 29th year in that facility."

"We selected David because he's a strong supporter of NAPA and NAPA Auto Care," said Mike Lott, general manager of the NAPA distribution center in Phoenix. "And he's an outstanding spokesperson for us. He helps us recruit other dealers to be NAPA Auto Care, so he's just a great team member."

Denmon's non-wrenching crew-member duties today included escorting the NAPA AUTO PARTS Dodge Funny Car to the staging lanes for the first round of eliminations. He also helped retrieve the car at the end of the track following driver Ron Capps' winning run.

"I'm new to NHRA drag racing," added Denmon. "Normally we participate with NAPA in the NASCAR activities. We were here at this event last year and guests of NAPA's in their suite, which was nice. This is a very pleasurable experience this year, my second time around. Maybe next year I'll get to drive."

Also on hand to present the honor was Brad Shaffer, Western Division vice president, Genuine Parts Co., NAPA.

Denmon also met and chatted with the entire NAPA AUTO PARTS Dodge Funny Car crew and was a special guest in the NAPA hospitality area throughout the day. He received a NAPA team jersey, experienced an up-close-and-personal view of the NAPA crew as the team worked on the car, and enjoyed a private tour of the team transporter and pit area.

NAPA AUTO PARTS distribution centers at each NHRA event during the season have different criteria for choosing the persons who are potential NAPA AUTO PARTS Honorary Crew Members.

The name of each NAPA AUTO PARTS Honorary Crew Member selected throughout the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series season will be prominently displayed on the NAPA AUTO PARTS Dodge Funny Car on race day.
