CAYUGA, ONT. – Defending IHRA Torco’s CompetitionPlus Pro Stock champion Pete Berner made the quantum leap from 13th to 5th during the final qualifying session at the IHRA Canadian Nationals at Toronto Motorsports Park located in Cayuga, Ontario.
Berner’s 6.369 elapsed time and accompanying speed of 217.88 briefly stood at the top of the qualifying list before settling in a prominent top half position.
“We just laid down a good, solid pass that we felt would get us up high in the field,” Berner said. “We didn’t necessarily have to be on top, but we wanted a run that was representative of what we felt would get us some round wins on Sunday.
“We are happy and this carries us into Sunday on a high note.”
Berner races Dan Sweeney in the first round of Sunday’s final eliminations.
