ROCKINGHAM, NC – Robert Patrick would love to reach the finals of all twelve IHRA Knoll Gas Nitro Jam finals, but if he can’t, gaining a semi-final berth will suffice. The veteran Torco’s CompetitionPlus Pro Stock driver from Fredericksburg, VA., maintained his pace of consistent strong finishes by coming within one round of the final round during the IHRA Spring Nationals in Rockingham, NC.
Patrick surrendered the point lead, but remains within striking distance.
“It’s all about consistency,” said Patrick. “We always want to be in every final round and win, but that’s something easier said than done in this class. We’re just happy going rounds. When you have ten more events, those rounds add up.”
Patrick entered eliminations as the third quickest qualifier with a 6.355, 219.72.
Patrick’s march to the final round included victories over Cary Goforth (6.345) and Mike Corvo, Jr. (6.471) before losing to eventual winner John Montecalvo.
Patrick is ranked second in the championship points standings, a mere six points from first.
