Funny story here. In Cozumel, while Suzi and I were walking thru Chankanaab Park, I ran into a guy wearing a US Nationals hat. I had on my NHRA Championship Drag Racing hat. Suzi had kept walking and didn't realize I was at her side. She turned to see where I was and saw the guy I was talking to and immediately looked at his hat and knew why I stopped. The guy was from Canada and we talked for a few minutes. I asked him if he was a Mater. He had no clue what I was talking about but sounded interested when I told him more. I may have recruited another one, boys and girls.

I've been on two cruises, one to the Bahamas (out of Miami) and one to Panama, Costa Rica and Belize (out of Ft. Lauderdale), both on Carnival. The cruise to Central America was with a cabin that had a private balcony. That balcony was soooooo nice! I'll never cruise again without one.

Did you know there is a tribe in Panama where all of the women are topless? They had a vendor's area in the port terminal, selling hand-made baskets. I was amazed at how many American men were interested in their baskets! There was a kiosk-type bar with rock and roll playing on their stereo about 40 feet from the basket sellers' vendor's area, so I planted myself there for a couple hours, sucking down Soberanas and admiring the scenery... I wasn't very impressed with Costa Rica. In fact, I didn't feel safe wandering very far from the port terminal, and neither did my traveling companion. Belize was like your stop in Haiti in that the ship didn't dock - we had to take tenders to and from the ship. I loved Belize! If I was wealthy, I'd have a winter home there.

Cruises are the best way to vacation, period. You get to see new and exotic places, and its as though you bring your hotel room with you. All of your food is included in the price of the cruise. If you want to eat 7 times a day, do it! At dinner, where you order from a menu, if you can't decide between the lobster tail or fillet mignon, order them both! They don't care, and there are no prices on the menu! The ships have duty-free shopping, all kinds of entertainment, casinos, discos, bars, pools and spas, just about anything you might want. ...just thinking about it makes me want to go on another cruise!

Bob, I have to agree about cruising being a great vacation. The only thing that would make it better is if it somehow included a drag racing event. This cruise was my 7th and my favorite one of all. The food was so good and I wanted to eat it all. In order to avoid gaining any weight, I increased my usual daily 60-90 minute workout to 2.5 hours and I did it EVERY day. I ordered 2 entrees every night at dinner cuz I could never choose one. I ordered the appetizers, soups, and salads, and sometimes 3 desserts. I haven't stepped on the scale yet but I'm sure I had to have gained something, even with the maniacal workouts I did.
