Ok Maters, I'm already deciding next year's schedule and I need to know what's a best bet. Chicago or Norwalk???

Joe,
I don't do big shows, but have been to big show tracks. Norwalk is head and shoulders above any place else. Good track, good pits and the greatest staff that exists anywhere.

Id go to Chicago, lot less crowded than norwalk lol. Just like Im never going to Richmond ever again, you have to wait in line for the bathroom and food for at least 20 min, screw that,Hey Richmond it aint IHRA anymore, get more concessions.

Norwalk!!! Loved it there! Very close to the track, pit layout is very ideal and nice. And yes the staff are great and a pound of ice cream for a buck can't beat that!!

Joe, you going to gnv next year?

I say both :)

Only issue with Norwalk is the cost of hotels. Its right near Cedar Point (huge roller coaster park) so summer time hotels are very pricey. Thats why I drive down morning of and drive back that night.

Best time to use the bathrooms or get food at Richmond is during Pro Stock:D
Honestly, I've never waited in line more than five minutes at the Hot Rod Cafe, nor ever stood in line at the restrooms.

The Hotel Prices was always my main concern being so close to Cedar Point and all. Plus Chicago has the Jegs AllStars.....

Joe, I been to both many times and love them both. You been to Rt66, so I would say go to Norwalk this time. Like the others said great track, super staff.

I'm guessing you would fly into Columbus and rent a car. If thats the case, then pick a hotel south of the track. That way you'll be farther from Cedar Point. And book early, you'll be fine.

Let me know if you go, I know you like to see other sites. You won't be too far from the football hall of fame.

I like both....but I prefer Norwalk over Chicago. Hotels are a little pricey, put worth it.

Reserve a room for Norwalk NOW. Cancel it if you change your mind later.

You've been to ChiTown. If you have to choose between the two, experience Norwalk this time. ...and, fly into Cleveland or Akron/Canton.

I guess I'm nostalgic, but Norwalk was the IHRA's crown jewel with the World Nationals. Greatest drag racing show around. Wouldn't mind if Norwalk went back to IHRA, maybe I could make that event.

Norwalk. No question. Route 66 is a very nice place but hasn't the personality of Norwalk. You'll have a blast there.

One other thing I failed to mention is; just about every race East of Me Indy, Gainesville, E-Town you burn 3 Vacation Days! Chicago is the exception, I can Fly in Fri. Morn and Fly out Sun. Night because they have Non-stops out of Midway both ways! That Saves a Pantload of $$$, which is why it's so much cheaper going to Houston, Dallas, Pomona, Vegas than it is say G-Ville and Indy! Which means I would need 3 Vacation days for Norwalk vs 1 for Chi-town...

Yes Cleveland would be closer than Columbus, you may also want to look at flying through Toledo also. They keep trying to lure poeple away from Detroit's airport I assume they try to with Cleveland also. May get a good deal

I grew up in Toledo, my parents are still there. You can get some great deals flying into there, some of those "non-hub" deals. Also, the airport's right on I-80/90 so you can scoot anywhere in just a few minutes. Norwalk is a little further from Toledo than Cleveland, but with the airport right on the Turnpike, getting there is much easier than Cleveland Hopkins. And, it's such a small airport the security lines are non-existent
