Here are some of the shots I got from the Northwest Nationals a couple weeks ago. Man, you'd think that after years of trying, I'd have learned how to get better results by now. Oh well, I hope you enjoy them anyway.

I think they look great. Considering... bright day, lots of white wall, tough to get much shadow detail out of that. The exposure looks right on. I assume you didn't mess with exposure compensation in post raw?

Curious. What gear and settings did you use? Seeing your quite a ways down track, they're nice and sharp. I went to Chicago and my day stuff was pretty good but boy did I have trouble with the night shots. I found trying to shoot a 200 mph race car at 1/250 wide open is a lesson in frustration.

I'm using a Sony A77 with a 70-200 f2.8 lens. I shoot manual exposure, iso 100 or 200, usually keeping my shutter speeds at 1/1250 - 1/1600 @ f2.8 to f5.6 depending on how bright the conditions are. When I get home I'll start going through everything I shot over the weekend and start cropping and correcting the exposure.
I know what you're talking about when shooting at 1/250 in low light conditions. Anytime Pomona runs late, I go through the same thing. At least if you're shooting any of the sportsman classes, they're not running over 200 mph.

Nothing wrong with those shots Mike, I think we photographers are our biggest critics! I sure miss going to Seattle, haven't been since '09! Airfares got STUPID high....
