Indeed. Another signal achievement for drag racing in a publication that focuses chiefly on Indycar, then NASCAR and F1. Look at the list of recent previous winners.
I find it very interesting reading some of the comments on the Racer article. Ranging from "this should be known as the best social media voting campaign award" to "I can't think of another sport that the driver makes a bigger difference in - well deserved".
For the record, I voted for her. I truthfully think that her drive job in the semi's at Pomona last year was one of the most impressive things I have ever witnessed in motorsport - full stop. Ice water in her veins, I tell you.
My personal favourite comment was in the "Millers Mailbag" article though - "The NHRA has the best TV package of any major motorsport series" (which I actually agree with). Though obviously not from a Mater Member....
Love seeing her get much deserved recognition for Racer of the Year. But also, she won by a landslide, and the closest competitor to her was John Force with ~9% of the vote. That's over 50% of the vote for drag racing.... and they think NASCAR fans are loyal.
