DRO has learned from several very highly placed sources that the HD Partners' acquisition of the NHRA pro assets will not go forward, although no one would talk on the record. DRO believes that this information is indeed fact. DRO has been hearing since the PRI show in December that the deal was going south. Top fuel driver and team owner Bob Vandergrif was telling people at the PRI show that the deal would not go through. DRO editor Jeff Burk contacted NHRA spokesman Jerry Archambeault after the PRI show and asked if the rumor had any validity. He was told that Tom Comptom replied directly that there was no problem. Right now this is an unconfirmed report, but we expect confirmation tomorrow.
