This is a pipe dream racetrack. Ain't gonna happen. This Al Guibord guy better have a lot of cash available to build on 900 acres. And being in Martin County doesn't help either.
Kind of a mess. From what I understand, the original buyer that wanted to turn it into an industrial park backed out.
Then they had a few town hall meetings where all the racers came out and made a big scene, that didn't do much of anything.
Then there was apparently a potential buyer who wanted to keep it a racetrack, but for one reason or another IRG has no interest in entertaining their offer. They seem to be bound and determined to have the track demolished and replaced with warehouses, even though they can't find a buyer willing to do that as of now. In the meantime, people have begged IRG to reopen the track temporarily while they still have ownership of it, but they have refused to do so.
Didn't PBIR sell off most of their track equipment right after they closed? The bleachers (at least some of them) have already been moved to Bradenton Motorsports Park.....
It would be hard to reopen (even temporarily) if they don't have the track equipment required to properly run a race.
PBIR is history. The investment firm (IRG) that owns the track wants to get top dollar for the property. The last rumor that floated around here is that they now want to get 85 million for the property. Formula Race Promotions offered I believe 52 million and the Portman deal was from what I understand 80 million.
Like I said earlier, Atlantic Farms Motorsports Park is a pipe dream.
