I didn't see anyone mention the near miss when Litton pulled across in from of Novelli during round 2 of qualifying?

Where was the mis-communication in that, did Litton pull across the track without being giving the all clear or was the track official at the first turn off asleep at the switch????

I was wondering the same thing, that could really have been messy.

Just guessing but since it didn't get mentioned on the Sunday show I bet Litton wasn't at fault.

From what I saw, the worker went through the regular motion, like he should have. Luigi's car was dieseling and he wasn't able to slow the car down enough...just my opinion.

You guys take all the fun out of blaming NHRA and how they conspired to keep it off of TV.

See ya at the races, I will be the guy in the foil ball cap.

It looked to me that guys in the right lane were taking the first turn-off and guys in the left lane were taking the turn off at the end of the track-Litton didn't and he crossed over into Novelli's path. Of course, Novelli was having a problem so he couldn't make that turn off, but if he had, I still think there would have been a problem with Litton.

It looked like to me the track official blew it by failing to monitor the speed and position of Novelli's car prior to giving Mr. Litton the go ahead to cross over. Having never seen a rear view/side view mirror attached to a top fueler, it's hard for me to imagine trusting numbnuts to direct me over a lane without knowing where the traffic is first.

JMO!

I have trouble with it in my 10.90 car....lol

Thank God that Litton's chutes collapsed to the ground a micro-second BEFORE Novelli ran over 'em. If they had still been inflated, that would have been UGLY at the speed Luigi was going.

Before they deflated, I was envisioning Bruce being dragged ass-first down the track.

Same thing happened to Bobby Lagana driving the BME car a few years back when he made a pass I think against Joe Hartley. The turn marshall waived Hartley in front of Lagana, and Lagana had no brakes, and had to stuff it in the wall to avoid Joe.

That was actually us(not Hartley) at Houston 2005.

Glad to see the 2008 schedule posted on the web Tony. Based on that assumption are you guys in full swing mode this year?

Look forward to seeing you all in Tulsa!

Hey Tom, sorry but that schedule is not accurate. We'll know more in the next week or so about our 2008 season. It looks like we'll be staying pretty close to home this year.

I hope that changes and you guys will be able to make the full IHRA tour again this year. TJ made a hell of a run for the championship last year.

Scary business relying on someone else’s judgment when you can’t see the car in the other lane.

I bracket race so I usually have my eye on the other car the whole time, and I still check like 4 times before I’d cross in front of another car…. things happen.

This is just my 2 sents.
Communication is not very good down the end. Luigi's car was bent up because of this incident. I think NHRA should pay for it. But then again I guess it is an act of drag racing.
I had a similar incident. There were many things that led up to the final outcome, but for sure if the guy down the end of the track was paying attention, it could have been avoided. Along those same words if I would have done things differently the final outcome could have been different.

NHRA mandated a $4,000 reverser for all nitro cars to use. This reverser enables an outside party to put the car in neutral. So when the clutch is locked up, the car does not have to be towed off the track spinning the motor. The motor is very hot and I'm sure you can all imagine what can happen, or remember Eddie Hill's and RIP Gordon Mineo's incident. Clearly at Pomona, there was a car whose clutch was locked up, and they towed it off with the motor turning with the tires. It was on ESPN.
I am a believer in we all make mistakes and are not perfect, but when you are DQued from a qualifying run because your blower is illegal, but it turns out it is really 10 years old and no one remembers what it looks like, so they figure it is illegal. I just think more time can be spent on more things like the two issues above than you know what.
I will say, all the saftey safari guys are very professional, and very educated about there jobs, also very pleasent. But when there are guys down there that are not full time and take it for granted?????
This is my rambling, as you can tell you should probably not listen to any of this, I mean I spelled two sents wrong--Twice.
Bobby Lagana Jr.

P.S. My path is riddled with mistakes and mulligans.

Peace out, enjoy life, smile often!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great to hear from you, Bobby.
Did you guys go ahead and test on Monday?
Can you give us any idea what your plans are for the season? IHRA only
or might we see you at E-Town?

Best of luck...
