they are throwing "competition cautions" every 10 laps so the tires don't get too worn. I seem to remember a time in the past when tires felt bad, they'd go in to pit under green
Judging by the looks of Kenseth's car after blowing his right rear, and the number of other tires that went away on track, I'd say it was a safety issue. If safety is wussification what's 1000' drag racing?
I was glad to see Jimmy win the thing by holding off a very good back-flip boy for the checkered flag. It was also good to see Jeff Gordon finish in the top five giving Hendrick the shot-in-the-arm they needed before heading into their countdown whatever it is called.
The whole race was a joke. NASCAR dropped the ball on this one by not testing at Indy. It's the 2nd largest race on the schedule, with the "new" car, you would think this wouldn't have been such a surprise.
and another thing...my opinion is, if NASCAR is calling for a competition yellow, you shouldn't lose your track position in the pits.
I hope next week at Pocono will be a better race but unfortunately, it's usually a boring one...I'll be there to see for myself
GOODYEAR , you have the top player in Auto Racing *NASCAR* and Goodyear can't make a tire that could last more than 10 -15 laps, this ruined what would have been an excellent race for the fans, there will be serious questions on Goodyear in the coming days. I would guess team owners not paying a dime for these tires. Wonder what *SMOKE* had to say?
Green flag passes were up and it was a better racing show than the normal INDY OVER HYPED BRICKYARD 400. I've never seen a 1 groove, single file race track get so much "run" in American lore. But, I guess they've earned it. ESPN as usual had no idea anyone else was on the track outside the Top 7. I hope this isn't a taste of things to come.
