Motorsports Hall of Fame of America to Induct 2007 Class
Prestigious Heritage Award also to be Presented
NOVI, Mich., Aug. 9, 2007 - The Motorsports Hall of Fame of America will expand its honor roll of racing greats by eight at its 19th annual Induction Ceremony on Wednesday, August 15, 2007, at the Fillmore Detroit.
The class of 2007 includes former NASCAR champion Bill Elliott (presenter: Ray Evernham), Indy car mechanic/team manager Jim McGee (presenter: Scott Pruett), 1960 Indy 500 king Jim Rathmann (presenter: Al Worden), Goodyear and Indy Racing League executive Leo Mehl (presenter: Shirley Muldowney), along with the legendary Pro Stock drag-racing team of Ronnie Sox and Buddy Martin (presenter: Kevin Miller), America's first national sports car champion John Fitch (presenter: Bob Lutz), and dirt-track and pavement motorcycle hero Bubba Shobert (presenter: Rick Johnson).
NASCAR pioneer Wendell Scott will also be recognized as the eighth recipient of the Bob Russo Heritage Award for his significant contribution to American motorsports.
The current list of 160 men and women that grace the Hall of Fame roster includes Mario Andretti, A.J. Foyt, Lee and Richard Petty, Al and Bobby Unser, Chris Economaki, Don Garlits, Shirley Muldowney, Bill France Jr., and Dale Earnhardt, among the historic list of others.
Returning inductees tentatively scheduled to attend include Bobby Allison, Chris Economaki, Elliott Forbes-Robinson, Danny Foster, Don Garlits, Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins, Chris Karamesines, Mel Kenyon, Joe Leonard, Dick Mann, Shirley Muldowney, Gary Nixon, Carroll Resweber, Lyle Shelton, Bill Simpson, Jay Springsteen, Al Unser and others TBA.
Others tentatively scheduled to attend include Kyle Busch, Kasey Kahne, Jason Line, Sarah Fisher, Graham Rahal, Ron Fellows, Jason Hunt, Alan Johnson, Roy Johnson, Don Schumacher, Richie Stevens, Eddie Wood, Len Wood and others TBA.

Founded in 1989, the Motorsports Museum & Hall of Fame is operated by the nonprofit Motorsports Museum and Hall of Fame of America Foundation Inc. The Motorsports Hall of Fame of America is a museum housing more than 40 racing and high-performance vehicles. The constantly changing collection features racers from the world of Indy cars, stock cars, Can-Am, Trans-Am, sprint cars, powerboats, truck racing, drag racing, motorcycles, air racing and even snowmobiles. Among the highlights are Art Arfons' Green Monster jet car and championship NASCAR stock cars driven by Darrell Waltrip and Dale Jarrett.
