Mopar-Powered Funny Car Pilots Hagan and Beckman Reach Semis at Gators (1 Viewer)

Dodge Charger R/T NHRA Funny Car drivers Matt Hagan and Jack Beckman recorded strong outings at the Tire Kingdom NHRA Gatornationals on Sunday, March 13, advancing as far as the semifinals in their Mopar HEMI®-powered rides.

Hagan, the No. 1 Qualifier at the event for the second-consecutive year, opened the eliminations with a first round victory over Bob Bode, posting a 4.095-second/305.08-mile-per-hour pass, then defeated Jeff Arend in the second round before losing to Cruz Pedregon in the semifinals. Hagan’s Mopar-powered Don Schumacher Racing (DSR) teammate Jack Beckman knocked off Dodge Charger driver Brian Thiel and Robert Hight before falling to Mike Neff.

"We picked up a lot of points this weekend," said Hagan, who holds the second spot in the 2011 NHRA Full Throttle Funny Car championship. "There is still a lot of racing, 20 races, to go in this season. We’ll keep having fun and we’ll keep working hard."

DSR Dodge Charger pilots Johnny Gray and Ron Capps exited in the quarterfinals and first-round, respectively, at Gainesville. Next up for the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series is the SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, April 1-3.
