Mopar-Fueled Beckman Reaches Funny Car Final at Seattle (1 Viewer)

Jack Beckman used Mopar power to reach the final round of the 24th Annual NHRA Northwest Nationals on Sunday, Aug. 7 in his Dodge Charger R/T Funny Car for Don Schumacher Racing (DSR) at Pacific Raceways in Kent, Wash, to earn a spot in the Countdown to the Championship.

Beckman, the No. 10 qualifier, downed Cruz Pedregon in the opening frame before defeating John Force in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, Beckman was pitted against fellow DSR driver Matt Hagan. Beckman ran a 4.160/297.42 to pick up the win over his teammate.

Fellow DSR driver Ron Capps picked up a first– round win over teammate Johnny Gray with a pass of 4.146/305.77 to set up a quarterfinals matchup with Hagan, who used an opening round run of 4.162/300.26 to score a win over Melanie Troxel. In the quarters, Capps got off the line first with a reaction time of 0.058 with a pass of 4.193/296.44, with Hagan tracking him down with a run of 4.166/294.24 with a 0.067-second reaction time to advance to the quarters.

Beckman is currently second in the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series Funny Car standings, with fellow Mopar-powered DSR drivers Hagan fifth, Capps sixth and Gray 11th. Next up for the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series is the 30th Annual Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals at Brainerd International Raceway in Brainerd, Minn., Aug. 18–21.
