Center Line, Mich. — Get ready for the thunder to roll once again at Bandimere Speedway.

Mopar® is proud to return as sponsor of the 28th Annual Mopar Mile-High Nationals, the longest running sponsorship in the NHRA, scheduled to storm Thunder Mountain at Bandimere Speedway in Morrison, Colo., on July 13–15. The roar of HEMI®-powered engines harnessed by NHRA POWERade drivers such as Gary Scelzi, Ron Capps, Allen Johnson and Richie Stevens Jr. will fill the air at Bandimere Speedway as the Team Mopar contingent does battle to bring home the brand a win at its marquee event.

The biggest weekend of the year for the Mopar Nation kicks off with a Mopar-style party on the streets of downtown Golden, Colo. The Mopar Big Block Party, set for July 12 from 6 to 10 p.m. MDT, has become the “official starter” of the Mopar Mile-High Nationals. The 2007 edition of the Mopar Big Block Party will include a Mopar press conference on-stage featuring the reveal of a special Mopar Mile-High Nationals paint scheme for Gary Scelzi’s Mopar/Oakley Dodge Charger R/T. The Chicago cover band Maggie Speaks will again rock the Mopar stage, and a line up of Mopar’s NHRA superstars will sign autographs for fans.

Mopar’s Kevin Miller on the Mopar Mile-High Nationals
The Mopar Mile-High Nationals has become a “can’t miss” event for any hardcore Mopar fan. In addition to the many fan activities surrounding the event, Team Mopar drivers have provided their share of on-track thrills. Gary Scelzi, the 2005 NHRA Funny Car champion, put the brand in the winner’s circle at the 2006 event. Year in and year out, Mopar pulls out all the stops to make the event an unforgettable one for the Mopar Nation.

“Mopar is proud to partner with the NHRA and the folks at Bandimere Speedway to continue the great racing that takes place each year at the Mopar Mile-High Nationals,” said Kevin Miller, Senior Manager, Brand Strategy & Mopar Performance. “Mopar’s long-running sponsorship of the Mopar Mile-High Nationals is a testament to the brand’s dedication to the sport of drag racing. The event is a tradition-rich example of Mopar’s commitment to authentic motorsports programs.”

Mopar Big Block Party information
There ain’t no party like a Mopar party. And the Mopar Big Block Party is the biggest Mopar bash of them all.

Each year, throngs of Mopar fans fill the streets of Golden, Colo., taking in the sights of Chrysler display and concept vehicles as well as the sweet sounds of Chicago cover band Maggie Speaks, in its third year of performing at the Block Party. Current Team Mopar NHRA drivers such as Gary Scelzi, Ron Capps, Jack Beckman, Allen Johnson, Richie Stevens Jr. and Erica Enders are scheduled to sign autographs for fans, with more drivers sure to be added to the list. Mopar Big Block Party attendees will also get a sneak peek at the special Mopar Mile-High Nationals paint scheme that Gary Scelzi’s Mopar/Oakley Dodge Charger R/T will carry for the event, which will be revealed at the Mopar press conference on the Big Block Party stage.

“The Mopar Big Block Party just gets bigger and bigger every year,” said Miller. “Golden is a great setting for the event. It’s a fantastic opportunity for the brand to interact with Mopar fans in a fun environment. Admission is free, so the Block Party is a way to give people on the grassroots level the opportunity to come out and meet their favorite NHRA stars. It’s a great way to kick off the Mopar Mile-High Nationals.”

70 Years of Mopar
When Chrysler bought Dodge in 1928, the need for a dedicated parts manufacturer, supplier and distribution system to support the growing enterprise led to the formation of the Chrysler Motor Parts Corporation (CMPC) in 1929.

Originally used in the 1920s, Mopar (a simple contraction of the words MOtor and PARts) was trademarked for a line of antifreeze products in 1937. It was also widely used as a moniker for the CMPC. The Mopar brand made its mark in the 1960s – the muscle car era. The Chrysler Corporation built race-ready Dodge and Plymouth “package cars” equipped with special high-performance parts. Mopar carried a line of “Special Parts” for super stock drag racers and developed its racing parts division called Mopar Performance Parts to enhance speed and handling for both road and racing use.

Today, the Chrysler Group’s Global Service & Parts division is responsible for the manufacturing and distribution of nearly 250,000 authentic Mopar replacement parts, components and accessories for Chrysler, Jeep® and Dodge vehicles sold around the world. To assure quality, reliability and durability, all Mopar parts and accessories are designed in strict adherence to Chrysler engineering standards.
