(7-19-11) Mooresville, NC - The BIG Show returns to Mooresville Dragway for the final time this year on Saturday, July 23 with the 6th annual Mad Dawgpalooza featuring the 3 second Quick 8 Mad Dawgs, Classic Gear Jammers, TOP Door Cars, Foot Brake Door Cars, TOP Opened Bodied, Teen Dawgs and Real Street.
Todd Tutterow of Lewisville, NC captured his first ever Quick 8 Mad Dawg win in May, defeating former Mad Dawg race winner Darrin Hoyle of Taylorsville, NC. “King Tut” the former ADRL Pro Extreme champion ran a blazing 3.90 ET at 186 MPH in his AL-Anabi, Red Line Oil, Hank Thomas Performance super charged Camaro, Tutterow also made it into the new Mega Machine Shop 3 second club at Mooresville. Hoyle, in his Fulton powered Bickel built Camaro also clicked off a 3.998 ET in the semis to become a 3 second club member. Other Mega Machine Shop 3 second members include legendary chassis builder from Shelby, NC Tommy Mauney in Andy Merrell’s Camaro going a 3.969 in qualifying to lead all the nitrous contenders. Veteran super charged warrior Bobby Baucom of Charlotte, NC clicked off a quick 3.978 ET in round one to put his blown Camaro in the Mega Machine Shop 3 second club. Look for two-time Mad Dawg race winner Chris Rini of Carmel, NY to officially put his ATI Performance, Buck Racing Engines, Bickel built Camaro into the Mega 3 second club. Troubles in qualifying and elimination’s at the last Dawg race kept him of the list, but a 3.90 shakedown proved the unstoppable Rini/Cozzali team can and will get the job done. Veteran drag racer Sonny Tindal of Cayce, SC celebrating over 50 years in drag racing will be in the Mooresville Dawg House along with “Nitro Coupe” standout team of Doug, Allan and Tyler Winters will have their super charged 1957 Chevrolet ready for war this Saturday, July 23.
The popular Classic Gear Jammers will co-headline the action packed day and night of Mad Dawgpalooza racing July 23, with former Classic Gear Jammer champions Larry Leazer of Mooresville, NC and Mike Boyles of King, NC being presented the 2010-2011 Most Popular Stick Shift Drivers award. Leazer, with his familiar orange Chevrolet Camaro won the first ever Stick Shift Championships in 2010 and Boyles is a 2010 North Carolina Drag Racing Hall of Fame Inductee with his crowd favorite 1957 “Good Ole Charlie Brown” Chevy wagon. These two great drivers will just be among the forty plus Classic Gear Jammers looking to do battle on the legendary 1/8th mile Mooresville Dragway on Saturday, July 23 at Mad Dawgpalooza.
Reigning TOP Eliminator champion Chris Warren of Concord , NC will lead an army of Door Car drivers into Mad Dawgpalooza this weekend. Warren, fresh off “Back to Back” TOP Eliminator wins Saturday, July 16 will try for the three peat in the tough ALL DOOR CAR TOP class, with his Pitts Repair Service Dodge Daytona. Plus we will have all door car Foot Brake, ALL TOP Opened Bodied class, Teen Dawg racers for youngsters 13 to 17 yrs old and Real Street.
Gates open at 10 AM, Time Runs start at 12 noon and Quick 8 Mad dawg qualifying at 1:30, 3:30 and 5:30 PM with first round starting at 7 PM. Gate Admission $20.00 and Kids Under 16 Free.
