Veteran New York team back with new Firebird and new screw blower

MEDINA, NEW YORK (June 16, 2010) - Veteran Pro Modified racer Mike Stawicki has returned to the Pro Modified Racing Association for the 2010 season, and the New York native plans to run as many PMRA events as possible this year.

"We will run as many as we can," mentioned Stawicki, who is presently second on the PMRA win list with four outright wins and a tie between 2005 and 2008.

He also holds the PMRA quarter-mile elapsed time record with a 6.049-second pass at TMP in Cayuga, Ontario in 2008.

Stawicki did not compete in the PMRA in 2009, but returned with a new
Firebird-bodied Pro Modified for the season opener at the Cayuga Dragway, where qualified number one with a 6.175-second run, but spun the tires in the first round and was eliminated.

He also said he will run in several ADRL events for 2010, and recently qualified
with a stout 3.80-second, 199.42-mph pass at an ADRL meet in Michigan.

Stawicki works hand in hand on the G-Force Race Cars entry with Jim Salemi of G-Force and Jon Salemi of Resolution Racing Services, who crew chief the Firebird. Car chief is John Kage; Betty Stawicki is the team manager, and Lucas Salemi and Evan Salemi round out the crew.

Aside from a new car body, the Mike Stawicki Racing Built 521-cubic inch Billet Brad Anderson (BAE) Supercharged Hemi has received a new screw supercharger.

"The screw blower is the biggest thing I did this year," he explained. "And we went to the new Cynergy Composites body to cut down on the weight. This body weighs less than 50 pounds. It's amazing what can be done now with composites."

The PSI Superchargers - C Rotor Screw Blower sits atop the engine in the G-Force Race Cars chassis, and is fueled with a Resolution Racing Fuel System.

Stawicki said he will be sticking with the long-established Lenco transmission with his Leanders Clutch over the Lenco-drive with a Torque Converter set up, which has been making inroads of late.

"We're sticking with the traditional clutch set up for now," he said. "Until we know more about the Torque Converter and can develop it more I feel the clutch is a bit more adjustable. Plus Jim and I are still old school racers."

"There are so many ways to skin a cat," he continued. It's all in the right
combination."

The G-Force Firebird will be ready to take on the competition for round two of the 2010 PMRA season, the AHRA Canadian Nitro Nationals July 2-4 at the Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario.

The Pro Modified Racing Association (PMRA), PMRA ~ Pro Modified Racing Association and the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts, Quick 32 Sportsman Series will highlight the Canadian Nitro Nationals event, which will include Top Fuel Dragsters, Nitro Funny Cars, Jet Dragsters and the popular Can-Am Stock/Super Stock Series.

PMRA qualifying for the three-day event gets underway Friday, July 2 at 8:00 p.m., with other sessions at 4:00, 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. on Saturday. PMRA Elimination rounds start Sunday, July 4 at 1:00 p.m.

About the Pro Modified Racing Association (PMRA): he Pro Modified Racing Association, PMRA ~ Pro Modified Racing Association, was organized late in 2004, started
racing operations in 2005, and is entering its sixth year of operation in 2010. The PMRA is a self-governing organization with input from its teams, and adheres to the technical and safety rules as outlined by the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) and the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA).
