<P> (8-7-08) ROCHESTER, NEW YORK – Although the Midlife Crisis Pro Modified team has not raced at the Sanair dragstrip, team co-owner Joe Caruso believes the Rochester, New York-based team will be ready with its supercharged 1994 Corvette for the Third Annual PMRA Challenge Presented by Eaton.

This August 16 event will be the fourth in the six-event 2008 tour for the Pro Modified Racing Association presented by Torco Racing Fuels Ontario.

With driver and co-owner Mike Cusimano, the team set new benchmarks at the recent PMRA race at Dunn Tire Raceway Park in Lancaster, New York, qualifying number one in the stout field, and going into the final, only to lose by the slimmest of margins over fellow New Yorker Mike Stawicki driving the G-Force Race Cars Camaro.

“Hopefully we’re going to do better at Sanair,” said Caruso, who added he was pleased with the team’s performance last time out.

“Our crew chief John Vorous has a good handle on the car,” Caruso explained. “We should be able to get down any track. With Michael driving and John tuning we’ll be in good shape.”

Now in their second year of PMRA competition, the team jumped up to eighth in the Wix Filtration Products, Valvoline, Uni-Select, and Moen 2008 Championship Point Award Series with its good showing at Dunn Tire Raceway Park.

Caruso was quick to point out that the team’s success has been due to the help of several, including Bob Jaus of Racecraft, and the engine work of Mike Janis and his son Mike Jr. “Both Mike senior and junior have been a big help,” added Caruso. “I’ve worked with them for years, and they have been a big help with our blower program.”

“Another important member of our crew I’d like to thank is Chad Cusimano, Mike’s son,” Caruso went on to say. “He has provided us with a lot of support.”

Going into this round of PMRA racing, Bruce Boland of Hamilton, Ontario, leads the 2008 Championship Point Award Series sponsored by Wix Filtration Products, Valvoline, Uni-Select, and Moen with 903 points, positions two through five are very close, with only 15 points separating these spots.

Second with 843 points is Jeff Roth of Kitchener, Ontario, followed by Terry Brown of Caledonia, Ontario with 840 points. Randy Jewell of Holley, New York is fourth with 837 points, and Joe Boniferro of Niagara Falls, Ontario, is fifth with 828 points. Mike Stawicki, The Grainy Brothers, Mike Cusimano, Larry Sinke and John Vergotz make up the top ten.

There will be three PMRA qualifying sessions starting at 3:00 p.m. and the Championship eliminations for the top eight qualifiers will begin at 7:30 p.m.
