Hard to believe chief starter Mark Lyle has died - he was on vacation with wife Marcia over the weekend before intending to head for Las Vegas and race #4... RIP Mark - we'll all miss you!

What a shock. Mark Rebilas posted that he died trying to save a friend struggling in the water. I first met him at Woodburn many years ago when he became the official Div. 6 starter. He seemed to be the one guy that everyone involved in NHRA really liked because of how he treated everyone. =/

Very sad. I spoke to him at several races after he took over from Rick Stewart. He seemed like a really nice guy and did a great job as starter.

Stunning and saddening. Condolences to all friends and family. The starting line under Mark didn't feel like a feifdom that needed to be ruled with an iron fist, it felt inclusive and welcoming. He is going to be missed, Vegas is going to be weird this weekend.

So sad for a great person like this to happen, prayers for the family to get thru this

Sad news. Mark was well-respected and will be missed. Fortunately, those who knew and loved him have lots of happy memories to help them celebrate his life.
