Usually by the time we get there in late July / early August, the vegetation on the hills around the track is dried out and brown. With all the recent rains, look how verdant the place has gotten.
I love seeing the hills around the Bay Area of California green like that. When you guys get your rain (usually this time of year) the landscape looks so nice and lush, but come summer, its all brown and a fire waiting to happen.
When I was there for the National Event in 2004 I thought for sure a wild fire was going to start. Outside of a desert, I have never seen an area so dry.
I drove from LA to San Francisco - via that spectacular coastal road - my first "real" trip to California in April a number of years ago. Apparently, the state had enjoyed a wet spring. It was the most beautiful drive I've ever taken.
Returning a few years later, I learned why they refer to "the golden hills" of California.
Now that you've gone and posted that photo I'm thinking "Road Trip".
BTW: How many years does California enjoy a "green Spring"(i.e. when its still green in April or May)? Seriously, is it one year in 5 or 10 or...? I hope it's not a "once in a lifetime" occurence.
