Lee Resets Career Best E.T. En Route To First Round Win

Ennis, TX (Sept. 25, 2006) - Pro Stock driver Tommy Lee made several steps toward giving Slammers Ultimate Milk their first race victory at this weekend's running of the O'Reilly Fall Nationals at the Texas Motorplex. Lee's accomplishments included earning his best qualifying position (no. 4), resetting his career best E.T. (6.672), and earning his first round-win since taking over the controls of the Slammers Ultimate Milk Chevy Cobalt in July.

"What a great weekend for our team," Lee said. "We have been working toward these kind of results since July and it feels pretty good right now. The Slammers team has been testing a lot when we haven't been racing, and the performance of this Cobalt is a result of all that.

"We went to Virginia to test the week before the Maple Grove event. Obviously due to the rain we couldn't do much at that race, so we had to wait until Dallas to find out how useful the data from testing was. I think our success this weekend shows the hard work is beginning to pay off for us."

Lee's first round win over Larry Morgan was the closest victory of the weekend, when Lee crossed the finish line a mere .0013 of a second ahead of Morgan.

"That was an exciting race," Lee said. "We had identical .053 reaction times, and we ran that 6.672 to Larry's 6.673. I was holding my breath until my crew told me I got the win over my radio. I had no idea who won until then."

Unfortunately, Lee's second round opponent, Kurt Johnson, ended the storybook weekend for the Slammers Ultimate Milk team when he ran a 6.673 to Lee's 6.712.

"The performance from our team has me ready to get back to Maple Grove now [rescheduled for Sept. 29]," Lee said. "Maple Grove was the place that Erica [former team driver] got her first round-win last year, so we have fond memories from there. Plus the fans up there are big time into Pro Stock, so it should be fun."
