Jenn,
You're way to young to have been around then but in the late 50s early 60s the be-bop music was in full swing and a group called the Shangra-las did a song called "Leader of the Pack" about some cheesy weasel who rode a motorcycle and the underaged chick who fell in love with him until he got tragically killed by crashing into a fruit stand or a golf cart in Pomona or something like that.
This "Leader of the Laundromat" song was one of the early spoof songs like Weird Al does all the time now. We got a kick out of it and it helped us migrate from be-bop into hard rock by poking gun at the bubble-gum songs. If you were my age that would mean something but you can write me off as an old guy just sitting in the corner babbling?

I LOVE the "Leader of the Pack" song. It's cheesy, yes, but I love it. Whenever people ask me "Get the picture" I usually answer "Yes we see". Although since I'm only one and answer with we, it gets them thinking I'm crazy. (Oh they think I'm crazy, I know they think I'm crazy...anyway)

I was actually singing that song and my brother said "haven't you heard the song, leader of the laundrymat?" So, a little searching and I found the song.

On of the other songs I want to find and it's not a parody but

"Sittin' at the dock of the bay,

watching the tide roll away,

Wastin' time."

I love whistling the end. lol.

That'd be Otis Redding, Jenn.

You can PM your email and I'll send you the mp3..if you'd like.
