DELAWARE, Ohio (Oct. 11) -- Reigning JEGS ProMod Challenge champion and current point leader Josh Hernandez padded his wallet by collecting the last two New York Motorsports Top Speed Awards from fellow racer and contributor David Hance. Hernandez topped out at 241.20 mph at the 54th annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals and went 242.02 mph at the 23rd annual Super Start Batteries NHRA Nationals in Dallas to earn a total of $1,000.

"My thanks to David Hance and his organization over there with New York Motorsports for this award, or should I say this pair of awards," Hernandez said. "It's exciting to have extra incentives to perform well at the track and any time someone is handing out cash, we're going after it. These cars run on money.

"It's been a great year for us and we're honored to have posted the top speed at the last two races. Now we'll go out there and try to do it again at these last two races as well."

The New York Motorsports Top Speed Award was started prior to the St. Louis event earlier this year to honor the racer who makes the fastest pass over the course of an entire race weekend.

Previous winners of the award are Danny Rowe (242.54 mph in St. Louis), Ray Commisso (242.32 mph in Bristol), and John Russo (242.80 mph in Englishtown).
