Lane Dominance

The thought occurred to me while watching the race. Some races one lane dominates the wins. Has there ever been a study looking back at previous years to see if it is the same lane year after year?

It seems to me over the years the left lane in Pomona is usually the lane of choice.

Near side seemed to be more forgiving in the fuel classes... last year it seemed to be the far side... but, it wasn't a one lane track by any stretch...

The lanes at VMP have been repaved and ground several times over the years. The problem may be the substrate.

There may not be a fix short of tearing up the whole track right down to and including the substrate.
