Kil-Kare in Ohio

I just got word from my son that the entire racing
complex closed. A company bought the land for the limestone beneath thr surface.
Had many memories of the dragstrip, and I know many friends also enjoyed the circle track.

Everything I am finding, including the statement on the track website says they are planning on reopening next year. Maybe that's wishful thinking or all smoke and mirrors, but here's to hoping it's true. I ran there for the first time this past summer. Great people, great staff, and great fans. The place was packed on a Thursday night. I was impressed with that, as well as the facility. They just sunk a whole bunch of capital into the track in renovations.

I was there in 1968 for the first time and the strip had been around for a while then. I think it was called Tri-State and changed to Kil-Kare in the early 70s. I remember watching a 69 Camaro "Pro Stock" named MIMI run a match race. I cannot remember the other car but I do remember neither car broke 10 seconds!
There is a lot of history there. I hope they make it.

"Mimi" was Bill Blanding, from Syracuse NY.
