So make the cost of Nitro 6-700.00 bucks like it was before the BULL**** shortage, and no teams sit out. Full show all sessions again. Then nobody is shorted on their ticket/day at the races.

Now, what caused the Nitro pricing problem,,,,OH YEAH.

Go Ken Black, and I hope he gets lots of support in this.

If Ken Black had a major sponsor would he be sitting out in protest?

How is this any different than, say, if Steve Chrisman sits out saturday in "protest"? There are less than 16 cars there, they already made a run, they will qualify.

No offense to Technicoat but when teams with Major sponsorship sits out - now that would be something to talk about.

Not true,
Steve C. Steve T. and Doug K all have to make at least 1 pass today. None of them are in the 'Show'... they didn't make a pass friday officially....

same thing out of the 17 floppers ... princess, troxy, wildthang, bt III, and t-bone have no runs recorded...

that is the bad thing about the friday 12 only... if saturday qual rains out, I guess we only have 12 car shows... can't have it both ways, a run counts or it doesn't and right now only the quickest 12 runs count.

Got me there Karl!

Ok bad example with Steve Chrisman, since he is out of the top 12 after Friday.

I guess what I was trying to say is that anyone else in the top 12 can sit out today in protest and still qualify since there is only 15 cars there.

Yeah Stan.
You only have to make 1 official qualified pass. There is no rule that says you have to make more than one run.

Why stop there? Mr. Black could have his team camp out in tents to protest the high cost of hotel rooms. Mr. Black could have his team eat bologna sandwiches to protest the high cost of food. Mr. Black could tow his 3 race cars with open trailers and duallies to protest the high cost of diesel fuel. Mr. Black could take a Greyhound bus to the races to protest the high cost of jet fuel for his private jet. The possibilities are endless!

I don't think a dually and open trailer would help him attract a sponsor. Of course, the NHRA is going to end up killing itself off anyway so it doesn't really matter.

Dont think that will fly, Bob. If there are only 2 cars (hypothetical) in the session and they run...session complete - no refund.

My problem with the sitting out on Saturday - the new fans of which my DH is one. He can't make a Friday session, due to work...doesn't want to attend the Sunday session ( $$$, not sure if he likes this drag stuff) so decides to go Saturday. Weekend, no work...checking out the drags...uh, half the field decide to sit out on a Saturday..he sees a "short" session of qualifying. Decides..not worth it.
just my .02:D

YEah I was being facetious . Engaging in hyperbole.

My point is the fans aren't getting their money's worth when a car of that stature sits out.

hmmm according to bandimeres live timing, she just made a run down the track....maybe ken had a change of heart:confused:

I support Ken on his effort.
Now how about the real fans that live in an area that has two races per year sit out one of the races, that will get (maybe) NHRA's attention.
Like what if you had a drag race and no spectators came.

If they are going to park it, Saturday is the day to do it. It's becoming that Saturday is the worst of the three days, Friday there's night qualifying and Sunday is final eliminations. Usually the first session on Saturday is a smoke-fest anyway, and in Sonoma they charge more for admission on Saturday then they do on Sunday. As a spectator if I were to skip a day it would certainly be Saturday.

NO they dont

Re: Clarification

They were a no show for the fourth session.

They were not the only ones . But why worry and spend money when there are only 15 cars anyway . I hate that the top qualifier gets a bye run . Its happening more and more lately . Less cars on the track that the fans want to see and paid to see , less exposure for the sponsors .

This is a monster that the nhra forced these teams to do , now its time for them to do some listening . I am done buying tickets until this all gets figured out the right way . If the sponsors get to pay less to the teams , then I want the fans to pay less for what they are getting in return also . Makes sense to me .

Just in the door from my 2nd day at the only major professional motorsports venue in the geographical area from roughly Canada, south to Phoenix, East to Topeka, and west to Las Vegas. Hillary was not the only car that didn't run 4th session. I think Chrisman and one other sat too. They had the wing off Hill's car at 3pm; looked like a little routine servicing and prep for tomorrow morning... and then out to dinner for them. I think we'll see more and more of this until and unless this nitro crap gets cleared up.
Again, I commend Bobby Bennet - for coming on here on Monday chat several weeks ago and setting the story straight. Now we're seeing this start to unfold. It's gonna get ugly. NHRA better not worry about the driver egos, the crews, ESPN or all the sponsors.... they better think more about the people who save thier money all year long to log onto Ticketmaster and walk through the gates and get thier hands stamped week in and week out.

According to nhra.com it looks like Hillary, Crisman, Torrence and ANTRON sat out the 4th session. Also, those elapsed times just look flat out goofy.

I'm baggin Seattle. Gonna save a pile in tickets, reserved parking in the dirt 2 miles away and a sh-- load in gas $$. I'll catch it on ESPN if I can ever figure out when whichever game ends. I'll fire up a nitro RC trk for the fumes, drink dollar beers and barby $2 burgers. Gotter all !!
