good thinkin, no huge sponsor obligations and they'll make the show regardless...and that is the one day I won't be there so I won't miss any of her runs;)

they should all sit out, but i know 1 team wont. kudos to ken and jimmy o. team kalitta/kb rocks!

Why stop there? Mr. Black could have his team camp out in tents to protest the high cost of hotel rooms. Mr. Black could have his team eat bologna sandwiches to protest the high cost of food. Mr. Black could tow his 3 race cars with open trailers and duallies to protest the high cost of diesel fuel. Mr. Black could take a Greyhound bus to the races to protest the high cost of jet fuel for his private jet. The possibilities are endless!

Great points Tony. The other ridiculous costs of racing are usually self induced. It's my guess that the price of Nitro is one of his smaller event costs. I certainly realize the necessity of keeping operating costs within reason, but there's also quite a few double standards in place.

Clarification

Need to clarify something, we didn't say that it would be this Saturday, but it will be one Saturday. Who knows, it could be Saturday at Denver -- time will tell

If they are going to park it, Saturday is the day to do it. It's becoming that Saturday is the worst of the three days, Friday there's night qualifying and Sunday is final eliminations. Usually the first session on Saturday is a smoke-fest anyway, and in Sonoma they charge more for admission on Saturday then they do on Sunday. As a spectator if I were to skip a day it would certainly be Saturday.

My $$ is on them sitting out next Sat up in Seattle. If the sun is out and it`s hot (like its calling for) then that left lane becomes even trickier.

That's a good point, Chris, but I would think today in Denver would be a good candidate as well. The field isn't full, so there's no chance of them missing the show.

MAn I sure wish I 'd flown out to denver to watch 1000' racing and see teams sit out.

the back of your ticket says if they don't complete one nitro session you get a rain check.

well how many teams have to sit out before your lawyer says hmmm. they didn't complete a session did they.

Ken's a good guy and a big supporter of Drag Racing, he's just trying to help the teams, These things you list other than cost of DIESEL are figured into the operational cost. Graham L. is stealing money from the teams with the lock on NITRO, they should be able to buy from other vendors, but Tom wouldn't get his money to pay for his, what is it a.....BENTEY?

Dont think that will fly, Bob. If there are only 2 cars (hypothetical) in the session and they run...session complete - no refund.

My problem with the sitting out on Saturday - the new fans of which my DH is one. He can't make a Friday session, due to work...doesn't want to attend the Sunday session ( $$$, not sure if he likes this drag stuff) so decides to go Saturday. Weekend, no work...checking out the drags...uh, half the field decide to sit out on a Saturday..he sees a "short" session of qualifying. Decides..not worth it.
just my .02:D

I am with you here. I understand the business aspect of it but I am bringing several Drag virgins today and I want them to have the same excitement as all the other first timers I have brought. Every person I have brought always comes back for more, meaning more $$ for the teams. Its win/lose but I cant see it being lose/win
If that makes sense.
See ya'll on the mountain
