[coverattach=1]MOHNTON, PA -- Maple Grove Raceway's longtime employee, Kathy Phillips, was recently inducted into the National Hot Rod Association’s Northeast Division Hall of Fame. The induction was part of the Annual NED Awards Banquet held in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

The NED Hall of Fame, founded in 1977, includes such notable racers as Jungle Jim Liberman and Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins as well as retired NHRA Northeast Division Directors, Darwin Doll and Greg Xakellis.

It can be said without hesitation that Kathy’s commitment to Maple Grove Raceway is second to none. This can be proven by the single fact that her total years of employment has now exceeded 43. As she enters her 44th year with Maple Grove, her list of duties has grown quite long. In the beginning, Kathy read the right lane clocks, handwriting each and every elapsed time and mile per hour for the racers. She has also personally handled every single advance ticket sale for the NHRA Toyo tires Nationals since 1985, accommodating everyone; including the guests with special needs. There is no computerized ticketing system out there that can duplicate the personal care and attention that Kathy has given to the loyal drag racing fans of Maple Grove Raceway. To this day, Kathy remains the friendly face that the racers see to get their daily earnings. It is estimated that she has written millions of dollars in checks to the racers over the years!

Maple Grove Vice President - General Manager Lex Dudas had this to say: “To spend 43 years in the workplace of America is a long time for anyone, but to spend 43 years with the same employer is exceptional. Kathy has worked beside every general manager the facility has ever had, including Bob Eveland, Mike Lewis, George Case and now myself. She has been the rock that every GM could go to and get straight and thoughtful answers to our questions and if we should come up with some ‘off the wall’ idea, she is the voice of reason.”

Kathy’s dedication to both the fans and the racers of Drag Racing has been a tremendously positive asset to the sport of Drag Racing. Maple Grove Raceway extends its warmest congratulations to Kathy for receiving this top honor.
