So I was driving onto the PX side of Camp Courtney today and looked up and saw a commercial plane climbing out from Kadena AB took a closer look and noticed the Kalitta Air livery. I would have taken a picture except for the driving not trying to crash thing:D.

Hey, how`s it goin over there. I noticed your post about kalitta, and thought I`d try to kill two osama`s with one stone. I was trying to find out if the kalitta`s we`re in houston. And I thought I`d ask how your doing way over there. I assume your in the service. What branch, what is your m.o.s. I was stationed in alaska for 18 months, fixin chinooks. (army). Anyhow, keep up the great work. And take care.

I'm doing great, just missing the races. I'm a contractor supporting III Marine Expeditionary Force. I was in the USMCR for 11 years and the USMC for 11 years. I was a 5963 Tactical Air Operations Central Repairman with MACS-23/24 det A Buckley ANGB Aurora Co when I was enlisted.. As an officer I was a 7210 Air Defense Control officer/7315 UAV Mission Commander stationed in Yuma AZ, 29 Palms Ca and MCAS Futenma here on Oki for my last tour.

They're an air charter operator - they'll fly anywhere, anytime, as long as the runway is suitable, there's fuel on site, customs borkering if needed, adequate ground handling, and the payment terms are inline. Connie's company (Kalitta Air) only flys the heavies (B747). They also do limited scheduled service to certain places. Doug's group, Kalitta Charters does the passenger, med evac, and light cargo with a variety of Lears, Falcons & a King Air. KCII - also Doug's, Does more specialized medium range flying with a DC9 and B727. KCII does some obscure transports sometimes, like livestock, race horses, aquarium & zoo relocations. Doug also runs a huge parts warehouse & engine repair station with 2 locations.

Anybody seen the movie "Taking Chance"? It is about a Marine Captain (Kevin Bacon) who asks to escort the body of an enlisted Marine, Chance Phelps, who was killed in Iraq, back to his home. In one scene as Bacon is walking on the airport tarmac one of Kalitta's planes can be seen clearly in the background. I figure it is a nod to the work they have been doing in helping to bring the remains of fallen soldiers back. See this movie if you get the chance.

I'll check it out! Connie has also leased planes for movie productions as well - Air Force One is a good example. All the exterior B747 shots in that movie are actually a Kalitta plane painted in water-soluable colors. There's several other movies with 747's that are Kalitta birds - I can't remember them all

That is a great movie. I would highly recommend it.
