[coverattach=1]STRATFORD, ONTARIO (June 24, 2009) - The K&K Race Team is anxious to get back into the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts. The second of six races is slated for this coming weekend at the Grand Bend Motorplex. The team considers GBM to be its home track and have performed well over the years at the facility, winning two track championships as well as taking home the Ironman at the 2006 IHRA Mopar Canadian Nationals.
After a few weeks off and some more testing, team driver Kevin Wicke feels good going into the race.
"We had a chance to get out a couple times between races to do some testing and get more comfortable with the new car,” he mentioned. “The results were not great but we learned a few things and we are ready to get back at it."
Despite some valve train issues the team still managed to qualify number one at the recent "Show Me The Money Tour" in Grand Bend. Crew Chief Kevin Zimmer knows the learning curve is not over. "It is going to take all season to get this program were we want it. Every time we go out we will learn something new about the car but we have an awesome crew that will enable us to continue to move forward and be successful."
Qualifying will be Saturday at 4:00 p.m.; 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. with final eliminations to begin Sunday at 11:30 a.m. Grand Bend Motorplex will also contest its regular TS/TD classes both days. All cars that attempt to qualify for the Quick 32 and miss the cut will have free entry into the GBM TS/TD courtesy of the Quick 32 Sportsman Series.
