Okay, just this and no more, I promise. Did anyone else cringe at Paul's repeated references to Antron being Brandon Bernstein's "buddy"? I don't know if he forgot that JR and BB are "buddies" or confused Antron and JR. Maybe it's time to show PP their infamous "Identification Signs"? Ok, I'll shut up now, I promise

He also reffered a couple of times to the wrong people as last years champs.

... and he said that Greg Anderson's loss was due to "engine troubles" when it was clear he spun the tires hard.

And.... he STILL calls Bob Vandergriff, VanderGRITH.

You know how you have that selective hearing with certain people?
Like when drag racing is on, and people want to carry on a conversation, and amazingly, you would never know they were talking?

Well, I have developed that for Paul. When Mike starts talking, I hear everything. Until that point, I just hear this drone, like Charlie Brown's teacher.

The Vandergrith thing still gets on my nerves!!!

He will figure it out someday. Until then we just have to keep shaking our heads and say out loud "BLESS HIS HEART"!!!:D

Paul Page does a great job for the most part. It's almost as if some people just go out of their way to despise him. No matter who is in that seat, people will ***** about their performance. What about Mike Dunn, he mispronounces several words during every broadcast. Never hear any negatives about those. I'm sure that that job is ALOT harder than it looks.

I know, I know... I need to get over it and accept that it is what it is... :)

I am tempted to send him an email telling him that is is GRIFF.

As for shaking our heads and saying "BLESS HIS HEART".... I my try that... it contains a little less profanity that my current phrase... :D

It is a very hard job. Paul is a great talker, that is the problem. I would rather him talk less with accuracy.

He talks a lot, but he doesn't tell you much!

I try my best to ignore most everything he says, but I will admit that my ears perked up when he asked Shirley about Janet Guthrie during yesterdays boardcast.

Obviously he had never read her previous comments about the former Indy car driver, but Shirley took the high road and didn't repeat her less than glowing remarks about Guthrie she had made in the past.

I did too, as I seem to remember her calling Guthrie a "stroke".

I think they should give the announcing job to Randy Green. He was FAR more interesting during the qualy show than Page has ever been.

Ya done good Ma Green.

I think you hit the nail on the head Lance. Some just seek out flaws that people have and never look for the good in them. As far as the TV job not being easy, you're right. Back in 2006 at Columbus, I spent quite a while talking with Paul Page. Let me tell you, he is a really great guy. He explained how the broadcasts are done and how each segment is arranged. After he explained it I got a whole new respect for the guys in TV, it ain't easy. Something else about Paul, he LOVES Drag Racing. He said that he has been going to the U.S. Nationals as a fan since the 60's (as long as his work schedule would allow). Sure, he makes a mistake here and there but who doesn't. As far as "Vandergrith", how do you know Paul is saying it wrong on purpose. Is it possible that maybe he IS saying "Vandergriff" but it sounds like Vandergrith because of another reason. I don't know but maybe Paul has a problem with a tooth or something and it just sounds wrong? I say, WHO CARES? I know who and what he is talking about and I assume everybody else here does as well. Big deal, get over it. Paul Page is OK in my book.

Dave, as I mentioned before in other threads, I think Paul has improved greatly since he began with the NHRA broadcasts, and my little comment wasn't meant to be a big bash...it just seems sometimes that Paul wants to foster a belief in the viewers that he is MUCH more familiar with the drivers and their situations than he really is. It simply seemed kinda strange that an announcer, after the Eric situation, and all the talk and explanations of the "three amigos", would confuse Antron Brown with JR Todd in his repeated references to Brandon's "buddy". I don't think I would have given it a second thought had it just been a passing reference in the heat of battle, but it came up several times.

No malice intended here, just an observation to see if anyone else noticed.

I've been a big anti Paul guy but even I will admit he's gotten better. Still not to the level he needs to be but there has been an improvement.

Judging by his commentary I'm surprised that he was a fan before. Often it hasn't seem like he has the background/knowledge. I still stronger believe that between Reif, Alan and the part time guy (for some reason I can never remember his name) They have 3 superior choices for that position.

As for as mispronouncing names for the most part I don't care. Hell I've got one of those name nobdy can say right and its only 2 letter lol ok I mean the last name.

Back in the day somebody used to say Kalitta as something way different.

Yep, (and I hope I'm right on this, PJ, or I WILL feel the wrath of Suzie Q!) if I remember correctly, it was being pronounced Kuh-leeta for a while...
