I wonder if Jim's opinion about taking some fuel away from the cars has changed after yesterday? Just a week after blasting the testing of the fuel pumps by NHRA, he literally had the worst explosion of his long career. That was a scary ride, especially getting into Jeff Arend, could have been a whole lot worse. That's twice Arend has been run over this season.

I was surprised by his interview, I expected some NHRA criticism fest from him. Either that or he's a good liar lol

She went BOOM. Head as usual wry smile, dust er off, and move on. Glad he is ok and Jeff too.

Jeff needs to pitch Target as an associate sponsor. Or a good insurance company or maybe a personal injury lawyer firm.

Poor guy just minding his own damn business and can't just go for a litle ride on Sundays without someone driving into him. DHL is getting air time, the hard way.

DHJ...Don't Hit Jeff

would guess he will provide feedback eventually -

when we watch these body destroying explosions, is the culprit
usually the same thing? i.e. the valvetrain or even a specific piece in the valvetrain? or can a myriad of factors contribute to these 'boomers'?

these 'boomers' all seem exactly the same and just curious if the exact same
set of events (parts) fail to cause them?

amazing how much these explosions lift the entire chassis - eerily similar
to hagen's @ concord

someone (a racer i think) stated when 1000' was instituted that he was glad
because at 1320' the last 320' was 'just holding your breath hoping the
thing didn't blow up' (or something to that effect).............
are they holding their breath at 680' now?

M. Dunn made a comment that it looked more mechanical than anything..crank or stuck valve..and Head said he's very conservative on the tune-up. I don't believe it was a short wick.

I'm shocked Jim hasn't been lobbying for 1/8 Mile? He lead the charge to get NHRA to go 1000'? Is 1000' No longer safe? Just saying....

....and Why are you 'just saying' Joe???

No need for 1/8th mile. Jim has never been about 1/8th mile racing. Just wanted more shut down area... He got it.... all fuel cars got it.... So why are you shocked he hasn't been lobbying for 1/8th mile???

I thought cam timing gear right away... Tony Pedregon and Urs Erbacher come to mind pretty quick. It laid down just a split second before it went.

Uh no - people go to NASCAR races to see crashes. A small percentage of Drag racing fans go to see some racing!

I fixed it for you Sam..

Uh... actually the majority of the people in the stands at a drag race are entertained by the thrill of the BOOMERS...or the potential of it happening...

It's a sad statement, but true....
