My guess is that dumping the air bags was the 1st thing they tried & it wasn't enough. Next thing would be to leave the bags empty & start dropping the tires!!! Yes, it does suck!!!

Yep, it sucks! I've been in those shoes before... Not because I accidentally drove under a low bridge, but because I was hauling an over height load.

Dumping air suspension only lowers the rear of the tractor. The front axle is still connected with leaf springs so it does not drop with the rest of the truck.

couldn't they just dump the air ride ??????? tires is old school and a pain

I wasn't there , but just sayin'
Kevin, I was the first one that stopped to help, and dumping the air bags is the first thing that I suggested, but that didn't drop it enough because it was wedged to tight. It ripped the top of the sleeper bad enough that they had to cover it with a sheet of plastic so the rain couldn't leak in.

Thanks for your imput Eugene , as a seasoned veteran of the city of Chicago and it's maze of low bridges , it never ceases to amaze me how poorly drivers manage their space , it's 75 ft long X9ft wide X13 1/2 foot high , you have to think that way all the time

Stay safe , brother , I have some 340 fuel coupe BBQ sauce for ya at indy
