Did I hear this right — Everyone took pay cuts to keep jobs from being eliminated? Not sure how that will improve performance. Didn't realize that the last JFR win before Ashley's this year was Indy last year. Things certainly seem to be in disarray . . . should be interesting.

It was either a pay cut, or park one car/crew. John, and Robert will be switching crewchiefs/rides to try to get Robert into the top 10 John said in his interview after his simi-final loss (JFR's AAA sponsorship in jepardy?). The money crunch is starting to hit with "sponsors wanting to do more with less" is what T-Ped said after he won.

Besides the economic downturn, the NHRA is not doing anything to help the racers. Cmon 1 hour of qualifying, show goes on at 10pm on a Sunday night. All other forms of motorsports can have live shows. If the NHRA does not do something quickly i think you will see some major changes in the sport because sponsors will be leaving drag racing and pursuing other forms of motorsports.

Maybe he's hoping switching things up will make people think in a differnt way or have new ideas come up... when you don't mix things up you get stagnet in to line of thoughts....

IMO.. for a long time Forces teams have been on "KILL" with the set ups.. hurt the parts no big deal we got more....they always seemed ot have an endless budget...now as they have said all year moneys tight for them.. and the old ways of working just cant be done... they need to rethink how they do the same job.. but are stagnet... mixxing things up might help the team....

Kind of reminds me with Dale E Sr.... when Goodyear switched to radial racing tires.. RCR had to mix things up with the team to get him back in the groove...

I didn't take it that the sponsorship was in jeopardy, but that its tied to the team making the countdown. If the AAA car isn't in the countdown, no money for the last races....which could also be why John is switching cars/teams with Robert. If Robert makes it, they will switch back...if not, John will fly the AAA colors during the countdown. Castrol is already covered with Ashley.

Why wouldn't Neff fly AAA if Robert's not in? Makes more sense to me.

Wonder if the AAA deal is not just "fly our colors", but also "this guy who we like will be our spokesperson"?

are there any ads out there with Hight in them?.. just asking...

i always thought it was like Dale Sr was with his DEI team... since they could not be on his actual race car they sponsored the car he owned and got him for promotions as well....as long as the company did not conflict with his other sponsors on the RCR car... sponsorship plus a personal services contract...

I have to agree with you on the no top 10, no $$$ for the last races. On another note sponsors have been known to pull the rug right out from underneath teams if they don't get results they pay for.

Dunno, but if you had to choose between the relatively well spoken and personable Hight and the less comfortable in front of people Neff, well... Nothing against Zippy, but I'm betting John sold AAA on the "package": Robert Hight driving a car that looks like this. And I'm betting AAA is saying to John "what are you going to do to get our car/driver in the countdown"?

Don't cut the pay of the nuts & bolts guys!!! Geez..they have nothing to do with the tuning decisions.

JFR has turned into a clusterfargin. And there is no logical reason for it. Biggest and bestis brain trust out there. I don't get it.

I think JFR's issues can be tied back to the absolute emotional turmoil they have all been through the last few years. Losing Eric.. John's accident..

that is a lot for people to deal with .. It has to have knocked them off their game a little. jmo

the last 3 years have def strained all of JFR and i htink it will take time to creep back into a normal world of racing for them...even if they deny it it has had a psychological effect on everyone over there
