[coverattach=1]Jeg Coughlin enters this weekend’s United Association NHRA Route 66 Nationals in Joliet as the NHRA Full Throttle Pro Stock points leader. He currently has a 73-point lead over second-place Jason Line.

Jeg is off to one of the best starts of his career in 2009, having won three of the first nine races. In addition to his victories in Phoenix, Las Vegas, and Madison, he was also a runner-up in Atlanta and Houston.
Jeg has won 24 of a possible 36 eliminations rounds thus far in 2009 and is one of just four NHRA pros, along with Top Fuel drivers Antron Brown and Tony Schumacher, and Pro Stock racer Jason Line, without a first-round loss this season.

Jeg has claimed three of his 44-career Pro Stock wins at Route 66 Raceway. His most recent win came in 2007, when he beat Jason Line in the final round. Jeg also won in 2002 and 2003, beating Ron Krisher, and Greg Anderson, respectively.

In addition to his three Pro Stock wins, Jeg also has three runner-up finishes in Joliet. He finished second to Kurt Johnson in 2003 (fall event) and 2005, and in 2007 he lost the final against Jason Line.

With 44 career Pro Stock wins, Jeg ranks fourth all-time among Pro Stock drivers. Only Warren Johnson (96), Bob Glidden (85) and Greg Anderson (57) have more titles.

Jeg is the reigning NHRA Pro Stock champion. He has earned four NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series Pro Stock titles in his career, including back-to-back titles in 2007 and 2008. His other titles came in 2000 and 2002. As a sportsman racer, Jeg also captured the Super Gas championship in 1992.

In 15 career appearance at Route 66 Raceway, Jeg has a round win record of 27-10.

Jeg has beaten 16 different drivers in Joliet including four wins against Kurt Johnson and three against Greg Anderson and Ron Krisher.

Jeg has qualified in the top half of the Pro Stock field seven times in Joliet, including the 2008 event where he was the low qualifier and set low elapsed time of the meet with a 6.705 seconds. Jeg has qualified No. 1 15 times in his career.

In 245 career Pro Stock races, Jeg has reached the final round 73 times, recording 44 wins. Including his 13 sportsman victories, Jeg has won a total of 57 times, tying him with Greg Anderson and Joe Amato for tenth place on NHRA’s all time wins list.

Jeg is currently ranked No. 6 in the K&N Horsepower Challenge standings. The K&N Challenge is a special event that will take place in Norwalk, Ohio on June 27. It is a special $50,000 to win event that is open only to the top eight Pro Stock racers based on their qualifying performance over the previous year.
