April 16, 2008 - Elma, NY – With one event on the IHRA Knoll Gas Nitro Jam tour in the books, Two-Time IHRA Pro Modified World Champion, Mike Janis' new 67' Firebird Pro Mod has yet to make a quarter mile pass.
With only eighth mile testing done before the San Antonio race Janis and his accomplished crew are looking forward to making some full track hits in their new hot rod.
"After our performance at San Antonio we know we this car can run the front half but we've still haven't made a full run with her yet," said crew chief Mike Janis Jr. "We're known for running the back half of the track and Rockingham will be our first chance with this car to see if we can live up to it and I can't wait."
Lead crewmember Steve Hermann echoed Mike Jr.'s thoughts regarding quarter mile passes. "We thrive on our car's performance. This race will be a true test of this car's potential. After we get past the first 100 foot every body better look out," said Hermann.
The IHRA Knoll Gas Nitro Jam Spring Nationals will begin Friday, April 18. Sportsman time trials will run all day with the first professional qualifying session taking place at 6 p.m. There will be two Saturday professional qualifying sessions, at 2 and 6 p.m. followed by the Night of Fire featuring the Super Shockwave jet truck. Final eliminations begin Sunday at noon. Janis Team Eager to Attack Rockingham's Famed Quarter Mile
