Is it me or ???

This weekend's Pro eliminations had to be one of the worse shows that I have ever watched on TV.

While pedalfest's are fun, there was almost NO side by side action in any of the classes!

Just too sad...

Well im sure they werent trying to put on a pleasing show they were trying to race and obviously some pushed it to hard or did not do to well, it happens.

they NEVER try to put on a pleaseing show- i.e- paul page, 1,000 ft, 4 lane, interview after interview, tacktionary, replay after replay, ect ect ect ect ect. the telecasts are hard to watch, tivo it ! none of the nonsense when its on tape. watch the good stuff only like i do.

I made a similar comment on the weekend while at the Houston race.

I really only go to the races now to catchup with some friends as the racing is getting worse and worse. Even 4-5 years ago it was a lot better than it is now.

I didn't make any fans when I said it a couple of years ago, and probably wont' now. But I still think it's time to entertain traction control on the nitro cars. The racing would tighten up, a good percentage of the engine failures would reduce, thus, reducing the net downtime we currently have for clean-ups. You couple that with a good spec engine program that will get us back to 1,320' and I think the show really comes around. I tell people all the time that there is simply nothing like two nitro cars thundering by you in the grandstands, but unfortunately that's a rare occurrence these days.

This years shows have got to be the worst. In the past I always watched and put up with all the Scelzi circus acts, Force interviews and B.S. just so I could watch racing. Now they don't show anything but the fuel cars. They skim thru PS and PSM motorcycle so fast your head spins. I was able to watch both of this weekends shows last night in about 45 minutes total with the fast forward button on my remote.
And your right there are only 4 cars capable of winning every weekend. The rest are just there to smoke the tires and collect qualifying money. I've collected every single issue of National Dragster since I joined back in 1993 but anymore I just take them from the mailbox and throw them in boxes in the attic. The whole sport sucks anymore. I've given up.

I was there too and I wish that I would have left Sunday morning. It was the worst I have ever seen in person. I kept thinking after 1st round that whoever backs it down, will win. No one did.
But it was nice to see someone get there 1st win even if I was pulling for Jeff. Also the Jeg and Allen finals was pretty good.

funny deal is - closest finish of year could be cory and doug at the 4-wides!

80's / 90's racing on youtube - still love it, maybe more than present day.

If you add off the shelf electronic engine management, then you would bring technology up to the twenty-first century. Both of these are already commercially available and could be available as an NHRA Approved "spec" setup for the teams to level the spending issue.

I really liked the stuff with Melanie Troxel...and I fast-forwarded A LOT less than during the 4-wide debacle...

but really, it's hard for the racing to be a good show with all the strikes against it going in...Paul Paige, 1000 foot racing, interviews during staging (and sometimes the races), Paul Paige, too many graphics cluttering up the screen, Paul Paige, too much emphasis on one or two drivers [coughForcescough]...and that's before anything that happens on that track

When they BLEW through the first round of Pro Stock in about 90 seconds, I said "screw it" and went to bed. I wish Wally Parks were reincarnated. He has got to be rolling over in his grave.

Hey, why don't we go back to how it was in the old days when you had to sit through 56 minutes of Wide World of Sports to catch 4 minutes of racing weeks after the event? Wouldn't THAT be awesome! :D

I tell you, people are just never happy!

if that was the best we'd had I might agree...but if anybody doesn't think the broadcast have gotten worse in the past few years they simply haven't been paying attention...

and the attitude that we should take what they give us and not voice complaints is more than a little condescending...

Not commenting on the TV programs.........
The racers had to deal with track temps 20 degrees hotter than they had seen all weekend. All year for that matter and it went beyond the "threshold" for consistency. When track temps get that hot(or hotter), it gets tricky. Also, just because they were not side by side, doesn't mean they weren't racing their butts off.........:)

For me, nothing beats the Diamond P years of racing coverage.
Live is good, I give you that, but like when someone else posted, you can burn through a 2 hour telecast in 30 minutes with the ffwd button, they can do better. . .
