That rule has been in the rulebook for decades, but hardly ever enforced. It's amazing what you will find in there if one would actually read it. 😉 It's so they can be spotted easier when they are laying on the racetrack. That little aluminum button can wreak havoc on a tire!

We use to put a piece of duct tape over them. Just in case they tried to fall out. Which can happen sometimes.
 
If you adjust the spring correctly, they should never "fall" out. Remember, The Dzus button was first created for aircraft and buttons simply falling out is not an option.

But this long-standing rule is spot on and must be followed by all competitors.

I brought that up last year about the Dzus buttons when Clay was fined $5000 and lost points👎 when his shot bag fell out when the end cap broke out. I said most cars racing would be fined and lose points if that rule was checked on all cars.🧐🤣
