What if we lowered the number of events that Pro Stock attends? The cost of them to race now is through the roof and they can't get the funds to keep it rolling. Maybe take them away from the double events (Vegas. ZMax, Pomona) Only do 1 of the Texas races, maybe drop one more. Along with PM and PSM that would make 3 part time pro classes. NHRA can make sure at least 1, if not 2 of them are at every race. It might make the teams able to stretch their cash a little further.
I am pretty sure this is what they do in Australia. Some races are Pro Stock and alcohol, other races are Top Doorslammer (Pro Mod) and Top Fuel, some races are Pro Stock and Top Fuel ...etc. I think they only have 2 races per year where all categories run at the same event. But all pro categories wind up running the same total number of events.
I would rather there be some implement to save teams money or generate them more income, rather than start dropping race dates for certain categories. Though I do agree the total number of national events needs to be cut back to 20 max ... Then work from there.
