RICHMOND, Va., Oct. 7, 2007 -- Kenny Koretsky and Richie Stevens Jr. played a waiting game at the starting line Sunday in the opening round of the Torco Racing Fuels Nationals at Virginia Motorsports Park and Stevens got the best of it. He left the line first (.079 seconds to .137 seconds) and reached the finish line in 6.654 seconds at 206.86 mph to Koretsky's 6.691 at 206.01.
"It's one battle to qualify and then another on race day," Koretsky said. "Richie and I staged a starting-line battle and I came out second-best. I had my worst light of the season. Eddie (Guarnaccia, team crew chief) and the guys did a good job tuning our Indicom Electric/Nitro Fish Chevy Cobalt. Eddie is getting a good handle on the tune-up and we are looking forward to the last two races of the season."
Guarnaccia, meanwhile, said he is "closer to finding a consistent tune-up. We made a nice run -- our best of the weekend -- in eliminations. I'm happy with the way the car is running."
Only two races remain in the 2007 campaign, Oct. 28 at Las Vegas and Nov. 4 at Pomona, Calif.
