You have got to watch this on the History Channel! Big rig drivers supplying a DeBeers diamond mine in the middle of nowhere over 30 frozen lakes.
I rode with our McDonald's driver from Anchorage to Fairbanks under conditions like this - except for it being a bit colder. 65 below at Delta Junction. Engine oil and fuel turn to asphalt very quickly if the engine quits.
A very cool show!

Good show, I see the producer Thom Beers is the same guy that does Deadliest Catch, which I think is way better. I read somewhere that the Discovery Channel (which is the channel for DC) didn`t want IRT, so it went to the History Channel. I got a big kick out of the 21 year old rookie when he drove onto the ice for the first time. "Holy mother of pearl...I`m on the f*%#@!& ice!"

My wife got me hooked on deadliest catch last year and now we watch Ice road too. We thought it was going to be a documentary on it not a show but its good.

I also am a big Deadliest Catch fan and have been watching Ice Road Truckers. I agree, not as good as DC, but still pretty fun to watch--I think it will get better as we get to know the characters like we do on DC. It's a nice alternative to those endless reruns of Unique Whips that seem to clutter the Speed Channel line up much too often

I love watching the deadliest catch. I am heading out for Alaska tomorrow!!! I told my wife while I am there I was going to go crab fishing and she said sure if she could triple the life insurance policy. I decided not to though for some reason. I am going halibut fishing though. I havent watched the Ice Truckers show yet but I have heard its crazy.

Have a great trip, Justin, and be sure to say to Sig and the boys for us!

Have fun Justin, you`re not going to believe the size of Pacific halibut. When I spent all those years gillnetting for salmon up there, we jigged a lot for halibut. 80, 90 pounders are routine, be careful after you bring `em onboard, they can break a wrist if you`re not careful.

wish those truckers were hauling equip. to canadian oil sand fields instead.
realty TV about energy exploration; now that's what we need, especially
in this day and age of actually watching commercials that ask you to
talk to your family about terrorist emergencies.

how about this for realty TV. hidden cameras in iran showing citizen's
reactions to falling leeflets (propoganda) that say "if you are NOT
hi-jacking your religion, you have 1 hour to run as fast and as far as you can".

sorry, a little off-topic.

I've read articles on the Ice Road Truckers, and that is an insane job, to say the least.

My boss got me hooked on Deadliest Catch, and now I watch it non-stop. Even the re-runs. I have huge respect for those guys, that's for sure.
