Not sure how to fix, but I'll work on it.
I talked to Darrell at Bakersfield a couple weeks ago. He is so busy he only saw the car one day I think he said.
OK, I have to tell this story because for me, it was the highlight of the weekend.
So after Antron's crash, we did see on the big screens that he got out ok. After that, I did not hear anymore about him. There may have been an announcement on the audio system, but I missed it if there was as I left the stands a few times. Well, it's Sunday night at 7pm and pretty much everyone's gone, only a few fans lingering around the winner's circle celebration. Some stragglers were visiting teams and pits. I was one of them.
I decide to leave but first, I wanted to go thru the nitro pits one last time and also to get some last pictures.
I wanted to see how the matco car was so I decide to go over there. I didn't think Ant would even still be on the property. There is a big group of people and I figure they are looking at the car; cool, I wanna see too. As I got to the pit, there is Antron holding court. LOL
It was awesome. He was animated and just being cool as usual. I knew at that exact moment that he really was OK.

Well, I finally found an acceptable replacement for photobucket. Ever since they screwed everyone over in November, they have been telling us to wait for the new improved site on March 18th. Well, I waited.
In the mean time, I looked for other hosting sites; none could offer what pb did. Finally, the new pb site launched and wouldn't you know it, it sucks now too. Luckily someone in the community forums over there mentioned slickpic.com. Seems like it is a pretty good alternative. Not quite as good as the old pb, but they are working on it. The customer service is fantastic.

We were protected from the wind and we got shade on that hot day sooner than the main grandstands. The biggest thing however is how loud it is there. My God is it loud there. Mike gave me these awesome earplugs a while back that are way better than the standard orange ones everyone uses. Even with the plugs my ears were hurtin a bit. We also have limited view of the big screen. Everyone stands up and we can't see sh!t.
I do it for variety and change of perspective. I do love the top end tho.

The only time I sat spectator side at Pomona was the time the Parchutist with the American flag during the pre-race ceremony had his chute collapse about 50 feet above the track, landed on the wall head first and rolled to the starting line ('99 or '00). Rick Stewart walked over, looked down at him and then immediately walked away. They brought the ambulance up quietly, loaded him up, and eased out the tunnel under the pit grandstands. They did a quick clean up of the starting line area of that lane and fired the first pair. My Dad commented about the ruthless effeciency, how a man's death delayed the start of the race by less than 5 minutes.
I can't watch them parachute in with that flag to this day ... makes me too nervous.
And Paul is right, crazy loud over there, especially if you can get close to the starting line.

i was sitting in Sec 5 like I always do that day, and I remember he must have caught a wind sheer, cause he almost went into the stands before hitting the wall!
