You can buy an F1 team, including the contracts of respected team manager Nick Fry, architect of all of Michael Schumacher's World Championships engineer Ross Brawn, driver Jenson Button, and the state of the art Brackley UK design, manufacturing and wind tunnel facility for the price of 1 GBP.

All you have to do is show Honda that you have "reasonable" funding in place for the team to continue for at least 1 season, preferrably more.

Ok im not a man of the world, or international banker and seldom have money flowing through my hands, but what the hell is a "GBP"???

I like the part about proving you have reasonable funding for at least one year. The last I heard, and I could be off a bit, was that the low budget teams were spending between $70 to $100 million per year in operating expenses and teams like Ferarri were spending over $500 million. That's just nuts. :o

That's why I put reasonable in quotation marks ... their definition of reasonable and the rest of world's definition of reasonable are oceans apart. If you came with a 1 year deal, you better come funded at least for $100 million ... they will let the number fall if you increase the number of years. Probably could get 2 years for $150 million.

Still, it is an EXTRAORDINARY bargain. Toyota spent 1 Billion dollars to get their F1 team up and running before they ever attended a race. To build a facility like Honda have in Brackley would cost hundreds of millions of dollars(multiple autoclaves, state of the art design center, CAD/CAM/CFD capabilities beyond comprehension and a full scale wind tunnel that is only matched by McLaren's in England, complete engine works, CNC machines), not to mention you get a fully staffed race team, with the considerable talents of Ross Brawn running the show. That Honda is willing to part with the team for such a small fee for a guarantee that the team will keep racing is unprecedented.

Chris,
You're right it is an amazing deal considering all that goes into it. That kind of money just blows my mind. :p

Is it really that expensive to run those cars? I know there is world travel involved, but good lord!!! That is some high dollar $hit!!!:D

To be competitive they each design and build a new car every year, including CAD, carbon fiber work, windtunnel testing, etc., etc. And that doesn't even discuss the engine development...

I just wanna know how many jets are included and, which way the toilet paper is turned in the bathrooms.

If it doesn't come over the top of the roll, DEAL'S OFF!!!

There's two things that irk me more. Coarse ground pepper in a fine ground shaker (how can RESTAURANTS make that mistake?) and napkins turned the wrong way in the dispenser!
